Looking for a quick and nutritious breakfast that packs a ton of protein? These Blended Cottage Cheese Breakfast Bowls are loaded with cottage cheese that's been whipped to a fluffy consistency, then topped with fruit, nuts, or whatever you like. It's a good and customizable breakfast that is suited to busy mornings!

Growing up in the 1980s, cottage cheese had a bad rep. We think because it was associated with "diet" food. If you were like us, then you also hated the texture of cottage cheese. We mean, it's labeled as curds, and is it us, or is the word "curd" not appetizing?
Blended cottage cheese is as it sounds, cottage cheese that's been blended or whipped to a light, fluffy consistency- similar to yogurt. It has a delightful mouthfeel, with a solid blend of creamy, tangy, and a little salty. It's also pretty versatile and works well with a ton of ingredients, like fresh fruit and nuts, to name a few.
You only need your favorite cottage cheese and some toppings.

- Cottage cheese Small or large curd, fat or low-fat
- Sweetener Honey, maple syrup
- Toppings Fresh or dried fruit, granola, nuts, seeds, flax, etc.
See the recipe card below for the full list of ingredients.
Here are the steps needed for blending the cottage cheese.

Step 1. Place your cottage cheese inside a blender or food processor.

Step 2. Blend on high or pulse until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Pause to scrape the sides if needed.
Expert tips
- Don't overwhip the cottage cheese. The heat from the blender can make the cottage cheese runny if you blend it for too long. Whip until light and fluffy.
- Cottage cheese looks dry? Add a splash of milk, and pause and scrape down the sides of the blender to help it along.

Serving suggestions
You can customize your blended cottage cheese bowls however you'd like. That's what's great about them! So use what you have on hand, or get creative. Here are some of our faves to try.
- Fruit Fresh or dried fruit. We love using fresh berries such as blueberries, strawberries, or blackberries.
- Nuts Nuts add a wonderful texture. Try adding any nut you have on hand. We love sliced almonds or pistachios.
- Seeds Chia and hemp seeds are full of nutrition and fiber and are great for added texture. Pumpkin or sunflower seeds are other great options.
- Granola Try it with our homemade granola or use your favorite store-bought brand.
- Cereal our favorite hack for when we don't have granola. We crush cereal right on top for crunch.
- Sweetener This is optional. Once we add our fruit, we feel like it doesn't need any sweetener, but you may want to add a drizzle of honey, agave, maple syrup, or date syrup.
- Jam Add a swirl of your favorite jam in place of a sweetener. It tastes like dessert!
- Savory options Try adding tomatoescucumbers grilled veggies, or fresh aromatic herbssuch aschives. Our husband loves ketchup on cottage cheese (eeek-not for us), but salsa would be a great addition.
- Eggs Want even more protein? Top your savory blended cottage cheese bowls with our chili-fried eggs!

Keeping leftovers
Blended cottage cheese is best served right after it is whipped. You can, however, store any leftovers, covered, in the fridge for up to 2 days. The longer it stays after it has been whipped, the more watery it will become.
Kitchen questions
We don't have a blender. Can we whip cottage cheese by hand?If you don't have a blender, you can use a food processor, an immersion blender, or an electric hand-mixer. You can do it the old-fashioned way and use a whisk; however, it requires more effort, and the consistency may not be as smooth.
